And the Possum saga continues.

He has returned. . . without taking any lives. Joe the Possum walked around the coop, BUT he cannot get in. After deep cleaning the coop the door may have been open but he killed through the fence. So we put up chicken wire. The dog went out this morning (He tracks) and he alerted. I had him smell the coop.
He will be trapped and disposed of (either let go or one of my redneck friends with kill him)
Because I need blog pictures I will upload random rabbitry photos.(not all of my rabbits are shown just an example of every breed)

Facing My Fear of Possums.

So last week I saw my first possum. I discovered I have an irrational fear of these possums. I cried for hours after seeing it. So how does one face their fears. Well I forgot to close the gate on the chicken coop and in the middle of the night I heard a struggle. Keep in mind I live in what is becoming the ghetto, urban farming movements. I have three hens, that's it. I walk out and my black Cochin hen Angela is running around my yard freaking out. Instantly I knew everything was NOT okay. Walking closer to the coop I realized, Well first, the gates open, second there is feathers everywhere. Walking closer something is running around. I pray it's the hen. Nope. It's that same possum that my dog went after on our walk a week ago. My splash hens dead and I got a possum locked in my coop.
So basically what's going on is, Angela the black hen's in my tub. Stevie the blue is MIA. Beverly the splash is dead and there's the culprit locked in my coop eating her remains under my coop. My family because of the whole 'gun control' has no guns. We have a pellet gun, a blow gun and a training bow. Nothing to really kill him. Let's call him Joe. So, Joe is now being shot repetitively in the face with the pellet gun in hopes it kills him. Nope. Nothings killing him.
He's terrified. I'm terrified and crying. Can't send the dogs in, they might catch something. Can't go in myself, I might catch something. You ever seen the grandfather of rap. He sings Whatcha gonna do. That right there was the song of the night. I left him in the coop and somebody in my house let him out. Oh well he ain't coming back. . . hopefully. . .
Anyway, the term for fear of Possums would be IF THEY HAD IT Didelphiphobia.

A journey. . . Southern Voice Rabbitry

It started with a Dutch. She was unshow-able. We went to a 4-H show and took 3RD and I was hooked. I then got Leslie. . . a Mini Lop and due to poor breeding he died. I purchased a breeding pair of English Angora's then a trio of Netherland Dwarves and then finally A pair of Jersey Woolies.

And so my journey begins. A Blog. Southern Voice Rabbitry. Blogging.
